Is your workplace compliant?

Providing a safe, compliant workplace for your employees is not only required by federal law, it's simply the right thing to do. And it's never been more important to become compliant. Over the past few years, OSHA penalties for unsafe working conditions have increased by nearly 80%.

But becoming compliant can sometimes be confusing because there's no one-size-fits-all solution. Every workplace is unique. So below, check out some quick guidelines to help you out.

- If your facility features hazardous materials that can cause damage to the eyes or body - OSHA states that suitable eyewashes or emergency showers must be provided for immediate use.

-Under ANSI standard, emergency equipment must be located within 10-seconds walking time from the location of a potential hazard.

- ANSI also states that emergency equipment must deliver tepid water, which is defined as a temperature ranging from 60°F to 100°F.

- In addition, ANSI requires that the equipment is constructed from corrosion-resistant materials to deliver safe, contaminant-free water.

Still unsure if your worksite is compliant? No worries. At Speakman, we provide a complimentary facility survey to ensure your workplace is up to codes and standards. As part of our program, we'll send a certified representative to evaluate your entire workplace and provide specific recommendations to become compliant.
